The Huaura district is located in the Huaura Province in the north of the Lima region in the central west of Peru . The district has an area of ​​484.43 km². At the 2017 census, 34,764 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 24,615, in 2007 31,212. The administrative seat is the city of Huaura .

Geographical location

The Huaura district is located on the north bank of the Río Huaura . It extends in the west to the Pacific coast , in the east over 30 km inland to the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . In the northeast the district extends to the river valley of the Río Supe . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the lowlands.
