The Ichupampa District is located in the Caylloma Province in the Arequipa region in southwestern Peru . The district has an area of 74.4 km². The 2017 census counted 555 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 807, in 2007 it was 757. The district administration is located in the village of Ichupampa, which is about 3400 m high and has 538 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ichupampa is 9 km west of the provincial capital Chivay .
Geographical location
The district of Ichupampa is located in the Cordillera Volcánica on the north bank of the west flowing Río Colca . The maximum length in north-south direction is 16 km. In the far north of the district, the well-known volcano Nevado Mismi rises to a height of 5597 m .
The district of Ichupampa borders in the west and in the north on the district Lari , in the east on the district Coporaque and in the south on the district Achoma .
