The Saisa district is located in the Lucanas Province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district was established on July 8, 1964. It has an area of ​​576 km². The 2017 census counted 851 residents. In 1993 the population was 720, in 2007 it was 875. The seat of the district administration is the 3075  m high village Saisa with 471 inhabitants (as of 2017). Saisa is 41 km southwest of the provincial capital Puquio .

Geographical location

The Saisa district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera south-central in the Lucanas province. The district extends along the right bank of the Río Yauca, which flows to the southwest .

The Saisa district borders in the west on the Santa Lucía district , in the northeast on the San Cristóbal and in the southeast on the San Pedro district .
