The Dobra is an approximately 25 kilometer long left tributary of the Südumfluter and thus the Spree in Brandenburg . It rises near Babben , a district of the community of Massen-Niederlausitz in the Elbe-Elster district , and flows northeast of Boblitz in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district into the Südumfluter. From the source near Babben to the confluence with the Landwehrgraben near Erpitz , the river is also known as the Schrake . On the short stretch between the confluence with the Boblitzer Dorfgraben and the confluence with the Südumfluter the name Boblitzer Kahnfahrt is common.

location

The Dobra rises south of the village of Babben in the Niederlausitzer Landücken Nature Park . The course of this part to Erpitz is described in the article Schrake . West of Erpitz, the Landwehrgraben flows from the right into the Dobra, which from there flows further north. It crosses the place Groß Jehser , flows under the state road 52 and divides the place Bathow . Behind Bathow is the course of the Dobra between the federal highway 13 and the Schönfelder See . This lake was created by flooding the remaining hole in the former Seese-West open-cast lignite mine and is drained by the Dobra. The Dobra flows around the mill pond south of Kittlitz . Shortly after Kittlitz, the Kleptna joins the Dobra.

To the east of Groß Klessow , the Dobra flows under the federal highway 15 and thus into the Spreewald biosphere reserve . Then the stream passes the local situation Boblitz, where from the south the Boblitz village ditch flows into the Dobra. From this point on, the river is also known as the Boblitzer Kahnfahrt. The natural harbor Boblitz is located here on the southern bank of the Dobra. Behind Boblitz the Dobra flows under the Berlin – Görlitz railway line and flows into the Südumfluter shortly afterwards .

history

The name of the river comes from Lower Sorbian . It is derived from the word dobry = "good, pleasant" and thus means something like "good stream".

The upper reaches of the Dobra in its present form came into being through the regulation of the barrier. The historically correct source of the Dobra was south of Erpitz at the source of the river, which is now known as the Landwehrgraben. The barrier then flowed into the Dobra from the left between Lichtenau and Hänchen (now Schönfeld). Due to the opening of the Seese-West open-cast lignite mine in 1976, the course of the Dobra had to be relocated between Bathow and Hänchen. The course of the Schrake, the opencast mines Schlabendorf-Nord and Schlabendorf-Süd was excavated and the Schrake was relocated between Tugam and Erpitz, so that it now flows into the original Dobra at Erpitz. In the BrandenburgViewer of the state survey and geographic base information Brandenburg (LGB), the entire course from the source at Babben to the confluence with the southern floodplain is referred to as Dobra .

Up to the confluence with the Boblitzer Dorfgraben the iron hydroxide pollution of the Dobra is very low. After that, take ocher to the creek because the Boblitzer Dorfgraben is used as Absetzstrecke for initiated filter well water from the open pit Seese East. The Eisenocker load from there is about 50 mg / l. On October 26, 2015, a pH of 7.5 was measured in the Dobra near Boblitz .
