Dominik Groß (born September 28, 1964 in St. Wendel ) is a German physician , dentist , technology ethicist and medical historian .

Life

At the Arnold-Janssen-Gymnasium St. Wendel , Dominik Groß achieved the general university entrance qualification in 1984 and was awarded the prize of the Prime Minister of Saarland for the state's best Abitur. Groß then completed a double degree in dentistry and the humanities from 1984 to 1990 with a major in history and minor subjects in philosophy and classical archeology at the Saarland University in Homburg and Saarbrücken . Since 1994 he has also been teaching the history and ethics of medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

In 1996 he switched full-time to the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg , where he received a DFG research grant in 1998 with the habilitation thesis The Abolition of the Surgery Profession. The causes, circumstances and consequences (1806-1918) using the example of the Kingdom of Württemberg as an employee of Gundolf Keil habilitated . In 1999 he was appointed private lecturer . In parallel to his habilitation , he completed his studies in human medicine , which he completed in 2000 with the third state examination. From 1999 to 2005, Groß worked as a private lecturer at the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg, and since 2001 he has also been teaching "History, Theory and Ethics of Medicine" at the University of Ulm and the University of Regensburg .

Groß has held the Chair for History , Theory and Ethics of Medicine at RWTH Aachen University and Managing Director of the institute of the same name since 2005 .

Dominik Groß has been married to Karin Groß since 1995 and has two children.

Dominik Great is an appointed member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts "European Academy of Sciences and Arts" in Salzburg and the "Center of Excellence Medicine - Ethics - Law Helvetiae" the University of Zurich.
