The Donnerskopf (also called Doko ) near Bodenrod in the Hessian Wetteraukreis is 485.2  m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the Taunus low mountain range .

The Donnerskopf is located in the northeast of the Eastern Hintertaunus . It rises in the Taunus Nature Park in Butzbach municipality between Bodenrod (in the Northeast), is one of the survey on the district, and Maibach (southeast) and the municipality of Usingen counting Michelbach (southwest). About 1.5 km to the northeast are the Hesselberg (approx.  518  m ) and its secondary peak Gickel ( 505.1  m ).

Natural allocation

The Hesselberg belongs to the natural area main unit group Taunus (No. 30), in the main unit Eastern Hintertaunus (302) to the natural area Bodenroder Kuppen (302.2).

Lahn-Main watershed and flowing waters

The Donnerskopf lies on the watershed between the Lahn and Main , two tributaries of the Rhine . To the northeast, the Eichelbach rises in Bodenrod and flows north to the Lahn tributary Solmsbach . Two brooks that arise to the northwest and west of the Donnerskopf, like the Blaulbach , also strive through the Aubach to the Solmsbach. Two other streams, which arise southwest and east-southeast of the elevation, such as the Markborn , drain through the Michelbach into the USA , whose water flows into the Main due to the weather .

history

From 1959 to 1962, the Warnamt  VI system with a transmission tower was built on the Donnerskopf . It comprises two administration buildings, a caretaker's house and a bunker. Since 1997, the facility has belonged to the Association of Christian Scouts and Scouts Hessen, which uses and rents the area as a scout center and youth education center .

Transport links

Country road  3270, which runs from Bodenrod to Michelbach and branches off to the northeast of the elevation near Bodenrod, branches off the L 3353 leading to Münster near the summit over the eastern flank of Donnerkopf .
