The church belongs to the parish of Lower Lausitz the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The district road 6237 leads as Rosenstrasse coming from the southwest in a northeast direction through the place. It also branches off from here as Rosenstrasse to the north and spans a plot in the shape of an anger. The church stands northeast of this street on a piece of land that is fenced in with a hedge .

history

The Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and State Archaeological Museum (BLDAM) states in its monument database that the church was built "around 1400". A roof turret was added during the Baroque period , and the windows were enlarged at the same time.

In 1992 the interior of the church received a new floor. Subsequently, the wooden barrel, the gallery supports and undersides were given an "amateurish, improper paint" - according to the old churches of Luckau Niederlausitz.

Building description

View from the northeast

The building was essentially made of field stones that were uncut and not layered. Quarry stone and lawn iron stone were also occasionally used. Part of the building envelope was then plastered . The polygonal choir has not moved in. On the north-east and south-east side there is a pressed-segment arch-shaped window, the shape of which is emphasized by a bezel .

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On the north side, only in the eastern area is a likewise pressed segment arch-shaped window. There are three windows on the south side. There is an ogival gate between the western and central one, which could be from the construction period. Between the middle and the east window is a clogged priest's gate . The ship carries a simple gable roof, the eastward hipped is.

Access is through a likewise pressed segment arched portal from the west. There is a raised window on each side. The gable above is largely plastered. An octagonal rider rises above it, each with a small, high-rectangular sound arcade , which is aligned with the cardinal points. The tower was built from half-timbering , above it is a curved tower hood , which ends with a tower ball and weather vane .

Furnishing

The baroque altarpiece was made around 1700. It was made by the Doberlug cabinet maker Abraham Jäger . In the predella , instead of the otherwise usual depiction of Jesus' Last Supper since 1925/1930, there are two angels painted in the style of grisaille , with a tablet with the inscription “Ev. Joh 6 v. 54 “(He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day). Above are two twisted pillars adorned with laurel, between the altar panel showing the crucifixion of Christ . Two putti are attached to the side, holding oval cartridges. The essay was repainted in light gray in the 19th century and inscribed in the cartouches with inscriptions from the Psalms and Gospels. The Friends of the Old Churches of Luckau Lower Lusatia assume that the coat of arms of the church patron was there at an earlier time .

The pulpit dates from the 18th century and has a wooden pulpit that rests on a support made of brick. Above is also a wooden sound cover . It was also painted over in light gray in the 19th century. Since then there have been tendril paintings and angels in the parapet fields.

To further church equipment includes an octagonal cup-shaped Fuente stone, which also rests on a base in brick. It was painted over before 1917.

In the building there is a shortened horseshoe gallery on the south side with an organ in the western part. The instrument was created by organ builder Robert Uibe in 1892 and cannot be played in 2020. It has a manual and a pedal with eight registers .

There are three late Gothic carved figures in the rectory, which may have been part of the original equipment of the church.

To the south of the building, a memorial commemorates those who died in the world wars. A cast-iron grave cross stands in front of the east end.
