Douglas Urbanski

Douglas Urbanski (born February 17, 1957 in Somerville , New Jersey ) is an American film and theater producer who occasionally appears as an actor and radio host. Urbanski is the longtime manager of Gary Oldman and has produced numerous films in which he has appeared. He is the operator of the talent management agency Douglas Management Group, Ltd.

Life

Douglas Urbanski studied drama at New York University in the late 1970s . Upon graduation, he became assistant to the managing director of the off-Broadway production Getting Out at the Theater de Lys . He then produced numerous theater productions with Robert A. Buckley as Buckley & Urbanski . Both were also co-managing directors of the Wang Center for the Performing Arts in Boston at the time .

In 1991 he founded the talent management agency Douglas Management Group, Ltd. , with whom he represents actors, screenwriters and directors. Urbanski also runs the media and marketing consultancy DMG Media Consultants . Together with Gary Oldman , Urbanski founded the film production company SE8 Group in 1996 . Their first joint production was Oldman's directorial debut, Nil by Mouth . Urbanski was nominated for the Churchill biopic The Darkest Hour at the 2018 Academy Awards, along with Tim Bevan , Eric Fellner , Lisa Bruce and Anthony McCarten in the Best Picture category. He couldn't win the award, but Gary Oldman was named Best Actor for the same film . In his Oscar speech, Oldman first thanked his friend Douglas Urbanski for his many years of support.

Occasionally Urbanski also appears as an actor. He took on the role of Harvard President Lawrence Summers in David Fincher's The Social Network . He starred as Mayor Durant in the 2014 remake RoboCop .

Urbanski also has occasional guest appearances as a radio host on the conservative radio shows by Rush Limbaugh , Bill O'Reilly , Dennis Miller , Laura Ingraham , Fred Thompson and Michael Savage .

He is married to television producer and screenwriter Diane Wilk .
