biography

Daschtschynski made his World Cup debut on December 9, 1995 in Tignes , where he jumped to 14th place. The best result in its inaugural season was a seventh place. On January 25, 1997 he achieved his first podium finish in a World Cup with third place in Breckenridge . In the 1997/98 season, he restricted his participation in order to prepare for the 1998 Winter Olympics ; in Nagano he won the bronze medal.

Daschtschynski celebrated the first World Cup victory on January 17, 1999 in Steamboat Springs , the second followed a week later in Heavenly . At the end of the season he was unable to confirm his role as a favorite at the World Cup in Hasliberg and jumped to eighth place. In the winter of 1999/2000, a third place was his best result. At the 2001 World Cup in Whistler , he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Aljaksej Hryschyn . In addition, there was his third World Cup victory a week after the World Cup.

Daschtschynski came in the World Cup winter 2001/02 not more than sixth place, at the Olympic Winter Games 2002 he was seventh. Although he was able to achieve another podium finish in the 2002/03 season, otherwise he was never better than 13th place. The 2003/04 World Cup season went better for Daschtschynski, with two wins, two second and one third place. Another World Cup victory came towards the end of the 2004/05 season, at the World Championship in Ruka he just missed the podium in fourth.

Daschtschynski had his most successful season in the winter of 2005/06. He was able to win four World Cup competitions and thus decided the discipline ranking for himself. At the 2006 Winter Olympics , he won another silver medal, where he only had to admit defeat to the Chinese Han Xiaopeng . The Belarusian Post then issued a stamp in his honor. He won his third overall silver medal at the 2007 World Cup in Madonna di Campiglio , again behind Han Xiaopeng.

In December 2007 Daschtschynski decided a World Cup competition for the eleventh time; it is his last victory to date. In the course of the following two winters he achieved three podium places, but his level of performance gradually began to decline. He finished eleventh at the 2010 Winter Olympics . Due to injury, he could not start in the 2010/11 season. During the 2011/12 season he jumped regularly in the top 10 until he won the twelfth World Cup at the end of the season (after an interruption of more than four years).
