Ebersbrunn is a district of the Geiselwind market in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

Ebersbrunn is located in the far north of the Geiselwinder municipality. The Bamberg district begins to the north and west, while Geiselwind is to the south. The southwest is occupied by Gräfenneuses , in the west begins the area of the municipality of Prichsenstadt . The Reiche Ebrach rises in the northwest of the district of Ebersbrunn , which flows into the Regnitz. The Oberwinkel deserted area is located in the Ebersbrunn area . The village was probably abandoned in the 15th century.

Closest towns are Gerolzhofen , about 13 kilometers away, and Bamberg , about 32 kilometers away.

Ebersbrunn is located in the middle of the Steigerwald nature park . Four individual trees were declared natural monuments by the lower nature conservation authority because they are elements that shape the landscape due to their size and age. On the so-called Kesselweg, for example, there is a beech tree that is around 220 years old. There is an old oak tree towards the courtyard . In addition, two wooden pear trees have been preserved, one of which is about 200 years old.

history

"Eburenesbrunno" was first mentioned in the 9th century. Later, the village name changed from "Eberhartzbrun" in 1340 to "Ebertsbrunn" in 1583. In the past, the place name was interpreted in two directions. Perhaps it refers to a well in the Ebrach . The name "Eberhartzbrun", however, indicates the name Eberhardt, who had settled here in the past.

The place changed hands during the Middle Ages. The Fuchs von Bimbach owned the largest estates , the Counts von Castell sold their shares in 1290 to the Cistercian monastery in Ebrach in the Steigerwald. The Prichsenstadt hospital was also wealthy there.

On April 5, 1945, the then independent Steigerwald community was hit by an Allied air raid. Nineteen buildings were destroyed and two people died. In 1972 Ebersbrunn, formerly part of the Gerolzhofen district , came to the Geiselwind community, which moved from the Scheinfeld district to the enlarged Kitzingen district.

Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Vitus

Attractions

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saint Vitus is located on a hill on the outskirts. The tower basement of the choir tower church goes back to a Romanesque predecessor, which was renovated in 1713 in the Baroque style. A pointed crown completes the tower at the top. In 1717 the baptismal font with acanthus decoration and the altar came into the church. The resurrection is depicted on the altarpiece.
