Edison's 1961

The Edison Award is a Dutch music prize established in 1960, which - although not in all categories - is given annually to outstanding recordings or artists. It is comparable to the German Record Award , the Brit Award in Great Britain, the Grand Prix du Disque in France or the Grammy in the USA. It is awarded in the categories of Pop ( Edison Music Award from 1998), Classical ( Edison Classical Music Award ) and Jazz ( Edison Jazz Award ).

The Pop Prize is awarded as part of a TV show ("Grand Gala du Disque", "Disc", from 1995 as Edison Music Awards). The award trophy is a bronze sculpture by Thomas Alva Edison by the Dutch sculptor Pieter D'Hont .
