Edward P. Barry

Edward P. Barry (born November 28, 1864 in Boston , Massachusetts , †  September 2, 1936 there ) was an American politician . He was lieutenant governor of the state of Massachusetts in 1914 and 1915 .

Career

Edward Barry began working in the profession after studying law and being admitted to the bar. He also worked as a publisher in the newspaper industry. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1907 and 1909 he was a member of the Governor's Council of Massachusetts. In 1913 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state at the side of David I. Walsh . He held this office between 1914 and 1915. He was Deputy Governor .

In 1928 Barry ran unsuccessfully for the office of Attorney General of Massachusetts. In 1932 he was a substitute delegate to the Democratic National Convention , where Franklin D. Roosevelt was nominated as a presidential candidate. Edward Barry died on September 2, 1936 in his hometown of Boston.
