Horace T. Cahill

Horace Tracy Cahill (born December 12, 1894 in New York City , †  August 21, 1976 in Norfolk , Massachusetts ) was an American politician . Between 1939 and 1945 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Massachusetts.

Career

The sources on Horace Cahill are very poor. During World War I he served in the United States Army . He must have studied law because he later worked as a judge. It is not known whether he also practiced as a lawyer. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1928 he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives . Between 1937 and 1939 he was again a member of this Chamber of Parliament, of which he was speaker at the time.

In 1938, Cahill was elected lieutenant governor of Massachusetts alongside Leverett Saltonstall . He held this office between 1939 and 1945. He was Deputy Governor . In 1944 he ran unsuccessfully for governor. Between 1947 and 1973 he was a judge at the Massachusetts Superior Court . He was a member of the American Legion veterans' association and the Freemasons .
