William S. Youngman

William Sterling Youngman (born February 2, 1872 in Williamsport , Pennsylvania , †  April 25, 1934 in Brookline , Massachusetts ) was an American politician . Between 1929 and 1933 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Massachusetts.

Career

William Youngman graduated from Harvard University . After studying law at the same university and being admitted to the bar in 1898, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He participated in both the Spanish-American War of 1898 and the First World War. He served in the Massachusetts Senate in 1923 and 1924 . Then he was State Treasurer Treasurer of that state until 1928 .

In 1928, Youngman was elected lieutenant governor of Massachusetts alongside Frank G. Allen . He held this office between 1929 and 1933. He was Deputy Governor . From 1931 he served under the new governor Joseph B. Ely . In 1932 he ran unsuccessfully for governor. William Youngman died in Brookline on April 25, 1934.
