Egídio de Araújo Pereira Júnior , called Egídio , (born June 16, 1986 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

General

Egídio started his career in 2002 with his youth club Flamengo. After a good start in the youth teams, he was awarded after his first year as a professional in 2007. He has been a member of eight different Brazilian professional clubs and has won various titles with them, including: a. the 2013 Brazilian Championship.

Egidio started his career in the youth field of Flamengo. He was first noticed as a promising player at the Copa Cultura de Juniores in 2005.

In 2006 Egidio got the first three appearances in the state championship of Rio de Janeiro . As part of this team, he won the Brazilian Cup in 2006. But already after his first season for Flamengo he was loaned to Paraná in spring 2007. Here he was voted the best left-back in the Campeonato Paranaense .

In spring 2008 he was able to successfully take part in the Campeonato Carioca for Flamengo . However, he failed to establish himself in the team and was loaned to Juventude before the start of the championship round.

At the end of 2008 he went back to Flamengo for the 2009 season. Again he was able to win the state championship in Rio de Janeiro, only to have to leave the club for the championship. This time to Figueirense in Brazilian championship Serie B.

In 2010 there was again no place in his hometown club in Rio. That year he was loaned to the first division club Victoria for the season. Here he passed the cup final, but was at the end of the season with the club on a relegation zone.

In 2011, back at Flamengo, he got off to a promising start with winning the Rio State Championship for the third time. However, in 2011 he was loaned out again, this time to Ceará.

Even before the end of the championship round, on October 28, 2011, he came back from Ceará to Flamengo. There was a rumor that he had left the club due to indiscipline, but in fact he had to undergo knee treatment.

In 2012 the loan to Goiás was confirmed until the end of the year. There he earned eight goals and 28 assists, giving him the nickname of the king of templates. On December 3, 2012, the sale of the player from Flamengo to Cruzeiro EC was confirmed. After winning the Brazilian championship in 2013 and 2014, the player moved to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine in early 2015 . Due to the unrest, the player moved back to Brazil to Palmeiras from São Paulo in the spring of the same year . After his contract expired at the end of 2017, Edídio returned to Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte on a free transfer . At the end of February 2019, the club extended the contract with Egídio until the end of 2020. On October 16, 2019, Egídio was honored for his 200 competitive games for the club.

After descending from Cruzeiro at the end of season 2019 in the Série B , Egídio could, despite the current contract until December 2020 leaving in January 2020th He signed a new contract with Fluminense Rio de Janeiro .
