Elitserien (chess) 1998/99

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1998/99 season saw a duel for the title between the defending champions SK Rockaden Stockholm and the Sollentuna SK , which was only decided in the last round in a direct comparison. Rockaden Stockholm would have been enough to draw their eighth title in a row, but as Sollentuna SK won, they won their first title.

Last year the Limhamns SK , the SK Passanten and the Linköpings ASS rose. While Limhamn and SK Passanten managed to stay in the league, Linköping had to relegate together with Eksjö Schackklubb and SK Kamraterna directly. For the reported team squads of the participating clubs see team squad of the Elitserien (chess) 1998/99 .

Events

The competitions took place on October 16, 17 and 18, November 8, December 6, 1998, January 17, February 7 and 28, and March 12, 13 and 14, 1999. The first three rounds were held centrally in Norrköping , the last three in Gothenburg , while the other competitions were played decentrally at the clubs involved.
