Emmanuel "Emma" Iyoha (born October 11, 1997 in Düsseldorf ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf and is a German junior national player. Iyoha's father comes from Nigeria , his mother from Germany.

Career

In the club

Iyoha played for Bayer 04 Leverkusen youth teams from 2005 to 2011, and for Fortunen in Düsseldorf since 2011 , where he lives with his parents in the Flehe district . In 2015 he passed his Abitur at the Comenius Gymnasium in Düsseldorf. With the transition from the D to the C youth, a possible footballing career was also on the brink because of his rapid growth. In the U17 he improved considerably. On July 1, 2014, at the age of 16, he was promoted to the U-19 team. He then played four times for Fortunas U23 in the Regionalliga West . On October 16, 2015, coach Frank Kramer added Iyoha to the squad of the first team after the striker scored 30 goals in 59 games from the 2011/12 season to the summer of 2015 and shortly after his 18th birthday one to 30 goals. June 2020 had signed an ongoing professional contract. As a professional player in the 2nd Bundesliga , Iyoha made his debut on October 23, 2015 in the last minutes of the away game against RB Leipzig . He made his starting eleven debut on December 12, 2015 in the home game against 1. FC Union Berlin , which lost their team 3-0.

On August 26, 2016, Iyoha was appointed to the squad of the U-20 national team. There he made his debut on September 1, 2016 in a friendly against Italy . This was followed by further missions against Poland and the USA.

For the 2017/18 season , Iyoha moved to third division VfL Osnabrück on loan . There he completed 25 third division games and scored 4 goals.

He was then awarded to the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue for the 2018/19 season . In Aue he played 29 second division games (16 times from the start), in which he scored 3 goals.

For the 2019/20 season, Iyoha extended his contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf until June 30, 2022 and moved to Holstein Kiel on loan for a year within the 2nd Bundesliga . There he scored 9 goals in 29 league appearances (24 times from the start).

For the 2020/21 season , Iyoha returned to Fortuna Düsseldorf, which had previously been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga.

In the national team

From November 2015 to July 2016, Iyoha played five times in the German U19 national team , with which he took part in the 2016 U19 European Championship . From September 2016 to May 2017 he made seven appearances (one goal) in the U20 team . In March 2019 Iyoha was nominated by Stefan Kuntz for the first time for the U21 national team and made his debut on March 21 in a friendly against France.
