Ernemann Sander
Ernst Hermann (Ernemann) Friedrich Sander (born April 18, 1925 in Leipzig ; † December 21, 2020 in Bonn ) was a German sculptor .
Life
In 1941 Ernemann Sander began studying at the University of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar . His teacher was preferably the animal artist Walther Klemm . Two years later he was called up for labor service and the armed forces . During the war, in 1944, Sander's first solo exhibition took place at the Jenaer Kunstverein .
After his release from American captivity, Ernemann Sander resumed his studies at the Weimar University in 1947. In the same year he had to drop out of the course. He then worked as a freelance artist. In 1948 Sander was elected chairman of the group of the Association of Visual Artists in Jena , which at that time was still called "Division 17" in the trade union federation.
After Sander's parents moved to West Berlin in 1951, he followed them with his wife and child two years later. In 1955 the family went to Bonn, where Sander had a modest studio in Florentiusgraben. From 1957 to 1983 he was chairman of the Bonn artist group . From 1963 Ernemann Sander lived and worked in Königswinter - Oberdollendorf . Most recently, he lived in a retirement home in the Bad Godesberg district of Bonn , where he died in December 2020 at the age of 95 as a result of an illness of COVID-19 .
His work can be found in Bad Hersfeld , Bad Honnef , Bad Oeynhausen , Bergisch Gladbach , Berlin , Bonn , Cleethorpes , Fulda , Jena , Cologne , Königswinter , Lünen , Montabaur , Pforzheim , Renchen , Schlenderhan, Wesseling and Worms .
