Ernst Maximilian von Troschke

Ernst Maximilian Freiherr von Troschke (born March 11, 1780 in Frankfurt an der Oder , † March 3, 1847 in Stettin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commander of the 4th Landwehr Brigade. He was the master of Tammendorf , Klebow ( Crossen district ), Rauffe and Wältschkau ( Neumarkt district ) as well as Zeinicke ( Saatzig district ) and Fürstenflagge ( Naugard district ), which he bought from his wife.

Life

His parents were the Prussian major general and commander of the infantry regiment "von Zenge" Ernst Friedrich von Troschke (1741-1809) and his second wife Karoline Sophie Henriette, born von Oppell (* July 27, 1756; † May 20, 1803). The Prussian lieutenant general and military writer Theodor von Troschke (1810–1876) was his brother.

Military career

Troschke came on November 1, 1793 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Frankenberg" of the Prussian army and took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794 . There he fought in the siege of Warsaw and the skirmishes at Blonie and Kamion. On April 1, 1795 he was ensign and on October 8, 1797 second lieutenant . On February 1, 1798, he was appointed adjutant to the battalion and attended the lectures of major engineer Müller in Berlin. On July 9, 1803 Troschke received the Order of St. John and on April 21, 1804 his resignation . He married in October and retired to his estate .

With the beginning of the Wars of Liberation Troschke returned to Prussian service and on June 1, 1813, joined the 9th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment as captain . Already on August 21, 1813 he was promoted to major with a patent from October 19, 1813 . During the war Troschke fought near Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , Zinnwald and Peterswaldau as well as in the siege of Erfurt . For Leipzig he was awarded the Iron Cross II class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV class.

After the war he was aggregated to the 14th Infantry Regiment on June 8, 1816 . On April 16, 1817 Troschke was promoted to lieutenant colonel and battalion commander in this regiment. On February 24, 1819 he was appointed commander of the fusilier battalion. As a colonel , he was given the command of the 21st Infantry Regiment on June 18, 1825, and in the same year he was also given the service cross . On September 10, 1826 Troschke was appointed regimental commander. On March 30, 1833, he joined the 33rd Infantry Brigade as commander . With a patent from April 1, 1835, he became major general and commander of the 4th Landwehr Brigade on March 30, 1835. In recognition of his achievements, Troschke received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, on January 18, 1840 . For health reasons he took his leave on March 10, 1842 with the character of lieutenant general and the statutory pension . He died in Szczecin on March 3, 1847.

General Rüchel-Kleist wrote in his assessment: “A well-thinking staff officer with decent and always correct behavior. Has a lot of natural mind and is not without a scientific education. The regiment is in very good shape and order under him, and leads the troops under him, both on the parade ground and during the maneuvers, with care and according to the purpose. Has a good knowledge of field service and is very suitable for employment as a commander of an infantry or Landwehr brigade. "
