Karl Wilhelm August Theodor Freiherr von Troschke (* 13. March 1810 in Berlin , † 11. February 1876 ibid ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Theodor was a member of the Prussian baronial noble family von Troschke . His parents were the Prussian major general Ernst von Troschke (1741-1809) and his third wife Juliane Henriette Wilhelmine, née von Luck (1771-1826). She was the sister of the Prussian infantry general Hans von Luck (1775-1859).

Career

Troschke began his career in 1820 as a cadet in Potsdam and moved as such to Berlin in 1823 . He was promoted to Second Lieutenant in 1827 and was added to the Guards Artillery Brigade and assigned to the position in 1829. From 1833 to 1836 he was assigned to the General War School and from 1837 to 1839 to the Topographical Office . His promotion to prime lieutenant in the 4th Artillery Brigade took place in 1839. In 1840 he was assigned to the Guards Pioneer Department for a few months and in 1841 to the Trigonometric Office, then to the General Staff . In 1842 he was promoted to captain in the general staff of III. Army Corps and in 1846 major in the General Staff of the 1st Army Corps . In 1848 Troschke became department commander of the 2nd Artillery Brigade . He rose to lieutenant colonel in 1853 and became commander of the 1st Artillery Regiment in 1854 . He then advanced to colonel in 1854 and major general and brigadier in 1858. In 1857 he became director of the United Artillery and Engineering School , a member of the Senior Military Study Commission and the Artillery Examination Commission.

Troschke was awarded the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves in 1859 , for which he received the star in 1861. He also became a member of the Examination Board for Premier Lieutenant of the Artillery. In 1860 he received the Commander's Cross 1st Class of the Hanoverian Guelphen Order and the Honorary Grand Commander's Cross of the Oldenburg House Order . In 1862 he became a member of the General Order Commission and in 1863 received the character of Lieutenant General.

Troschke received his farewell in 1865 and on this occasion received the Commander's Cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern . Nevertheless, he remained a voting member of the General Artillery Committee and the General Order Commission. With royal approval he was put up by the city of Gartz as a candidate for the parliament of the North German Confederation in 1867 . Troschke had been active as a military-historical publishing author throughout his life. He was buried in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery in Berlin .

Troschke married Laura Krause (1825-1894) in Berlin in 1843. The marriage resulted in a daughter and two sons:

  • Martha Caecilie Auguste (born December 14, 1847)
  • Karl August Theodor (born October 25, 1851)
