Ernst Vollrad von Vieregge (born October 24, 1744 in Lantow, † May 15, 1816 in Güstrow ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

family

Ernst Vollrad was a member of the Mecklenburg noble family von Vieregge . His parents were the Danish Rittmeister and heir to Lantow, Kronskamp and Subzien Friedrich Ludwig von Vieregge (1695–1777) and Margarethe Elisabeth Sybille and Magdalene Ilse Sibylle von Lehsten adH Warde (1718–1789). Two of his brothers were successively entrusted to Steinhausen. Vieregge remained unmarried and died without leaving any heirs.

Career

Vieregge entered the Hanoverian service in 1760 and took part in the army of Duke Ferdinand von Braunschweig in the campaign against France from 1760 . In 1762 he came into the body regiment . In 1763 he was promoted to ensign and at the same time was transferred to the Hereditary Prince Regiment . He rose in 1766 further to the lieutenant , returned in 1773 Leibregiment back and took on 31 March in the same year his farewell from Brunswick services.

On April 1, Vieregge entered the Prussian service as Prime Lieutenant with a patent from 1771 in the infantry regiment (No. 54) . In 1778 he advanced to staff captain and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . He was promoted to captain and company commander in 1783 and major in 1792. As leader of a grenadier battalion , he took part in the suppression of the Kościuszko uprising , in particular in the battles off Warsaw , the Rawka and Powonsk.

On June 8, 1794 Vieregge was honored with the order Pour le Mérite . He was then commander of the grenadier battalion in the regiment (No. 54) in 1798 , in 1799 commander of the 1st battalion, advanced to lieutenant colonel in 1800 and finally also in 1800 commander of the 4th battalion in the regiment.

1802 Vieregge Amtshauptmann in Schlanstedt and Oschersleben , but rose to in the same year Colonel on. He then took part in the Fourth Coalition in 1806 and became inactive with the surrender at Ratkau. In 1807, like many other Prussian officers, he was given half his salary depending on the situation. Nevertheless, he received his promotion to major general on March 6, 1812 in recognition of the services rendered for Prussia. In 1813 Vieregge was retired with half pay as a grace salary . On 1 December the same year he was finally his farewell with pension granted.
