The Essengraben is a group of the market town of Schwarzenbach in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land in Lower Austria .

geography

Essengraben is located in the Essengraben valley of the same name in the southern Rosaliengebirge in Lower Austria's industrial district .

Place name

An older spelling of the place name is "Eßengraben". In the Josephinische Landesaufnahme the place is also called "Esengraben".

At the word "food-" is probably a chimney , which may suggest that it is in food moat earlier gave one or more forging.

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the immediate vicinity of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg . Later under the Romans, today's Essengraben was then in the province of Pannonia .

Essengraben has always been part of the Schwarzenbach market town and has therefore always shared its history.

Economy and Infrastructure

Most of the inhabitants of Essengraben live from agriculture and forestry. Others have to commute to work.
