Esteban Andrés Solari Poggio (born June 2, 1980 in Rosario ) is an Argentine soccer player who is currently under contract with SD Aucas .

family

Almost the entire Solari's family is shaped by football. His father Eduardo and two of his four siblings (his older brother Santiago Solari and younger brother David Solari ) are also footballers. Santiago played for top clubs such as Real Madrid and Inter Milan , among others . His uncle Jorge Solari played soccer for CA River Plate and his cousin Fernando Redondo for Real Madrid and AC Milan . Except for David, all of them have already played for the Argentine national soccer team .

His sister Liz Maria Solari is a model .

Career

Solari made his professional debut at the Argentine Club Estudiantes de La Plata . He then played with moderate success for various Argentine clubs before moving to the Italian club AC Chioggia Sottomarina . There he only played one season and then also played a season for the Belgian first division club Lierse SK .

His breakthrough came with APOEL Nicosia , when he scored 14 goals in 16 appearances in his first season and won the Cypriot Football Cup with his club . In the following season 2006/07 Solari was top scorer of the Cypriot league with 20 goals and with APOEL Cypriot champions.

In 2007 he played for the Mexican club UNAM Pumas , where he was also top scorer with 25 goals, and then moved to the Spanish first division UD Almería for 3.8 million . He made his debut in a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on August 31 , when he came on as a substitute in the 76th minute. The rest of the season, however, he only made eight appearances.

In June 2010 Solari moved to his former club APOEL Nicosia; he signed a three-year contract. In the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League , he had scored six goals in four games before APOEL lost to Getafe FC in the play-off games on a two-legged basis (0-1, 1-1). At the end of the season Solari was again Cypriot champion. In the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League he reached the quarter-finals with APOEL after beating Zenit St. Petersburg , FC Porto and Olympique Lyon . There they were eliminated against Real Madrid on a return leg (0: 3, 2: 5).
