Eternal Rest is an Australian death metal band from Toowoomba , founded approximately in 2009. It has now moved to Brisbane .

history

The band was formed in Toowoomba before moving to Brisbane around 2009 with the release of the EP Seize of Anubis . The US label Deepsend Records became aware of the band through the EP . This was followed by appearances with The Black Dahlia Murder and in 2012 the Whiplash Festival tour with Sybreed . In April 2013, the debut album Prophetic was released on Deepsend Records . In the same year it went on tour with Behemoth and Kataklysm . The release was also followed by appearances with Suffocation , Decapitated , Psycroptic , Unearth , The Black Dahlia Murder, Ulcerate , Hour of Penance , Rotten Sound and Warbringer . In 2013 the group also played in New Zealand and Japan , alongside Origin , Aeon and Mors Principium Est . In 2014, the band toured southeast Asia with Skeletonwitch , before a national tour with Origin and A Million Dead Birds Laughing followed. Lochlan Watt helped out as a singer. After several line-up changes in 2015 and 2016, they went on tour through Malaysia with Magrudergrind , Wormrot and Skinned . The band also played appearances in Australia with Trivium , Cryptopsy and Enslaved . End of 2016, the band signed a record deal with Truth Inc. Records and went with Whoretopsy and Condemned on a European tour . In 2017 the next album A Death in the Darkness was released .

style

Lior "Steinmetal" Stein from metal-temple.com wrote in his review of Prophetic that it contained influences from early early Morbid Angel , Deicide , Immolation , Suffocation and as well as newer death metal bands like Psycroptic . The music is pure Death Metal without influences from Thrash Metal , with the group mainly oriented towards the early 1990s. In the songs there are solos , melodic tremolo - Picking and guttural and high vocals. The music is aggressive and mostly fast. Liam Frost-Camilleri from overdrive-mag.com also assigned A Death in the Darkness to Death Metal, although the songwriting has improved and the music is now more rabid. The oriental sounds of the previous album were still left on the album, but the band only sounded somewhat influenced by bands like Nile than they could be compared to them. The double bass passages have been reduced and now make room for crescendo elements. The vocals are more typical for hardcore punk than for death metal.
