The 2009 European elections in Slovakia took place on June 6, 2009, with 13 out of 736 seats in the European Parliament to be awarded. It was the second European election in Slovakia. The polling stations were open between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The turnout was 19.64% (853,533 of 4,345,773 eligible voters). The ruling party Smer received five seats for the
Social Democratic Party of Europe ; the opposition parties SDKÚ-DS, SMK and KDH each won two mandates for the European People's Party . The coalition partners HZDS ( ALDE parliamentary group ) and SNS ( EFD parliamentary group ) each achieved one seat.
