Ferry (Zwilipp)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ferry is a former place of residence ( desert ), now in the area of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland .

The desert is in Western Pomerania , about 110 kilometers northeast of Szczecin . It is located on the right bank of the Persante River , about two kilometers east of the village of Świelubie (Zwilipp) . Opposite, on the left bank of the Persante, lies, also desolate, the homonymous living space of the ferry that used to belong to Peterfitz .

According to the local researcher Manfred Vollack , a mention of a bridge in the course of the old salt road from the year 1159 should be related to this point.

In Ludwig Wilhelm Brüggemann's detailed description of the current state of the Royal Prussian Duchy of Western and Western Pomerania (1784) it is mentioned that here over the Persante "the post road from Colberg to Cörlin leads via the so-called ferry bridge". At that time there were two ferry jugs at the bridge , which, like the village of Zwilipp, belonged to the Kolberg district . The so-called ferry tariff was also collected here.

In 1806 the commander of the Kolberg Fortress, Colonel Ludwig Moritz von Lucadou , had the bridge destroyed when French troops approached. Heinrich Berghaus lamented the lack of the bridge in the land register of the Duchy of Pomerania and the Principality of Rügen (1867) with clear words: He regrets “that, despite the most urgent need, they were not motivated to rebuild the bridge and are therefore through the 7 mile long run of the Persante from Körlin to Kolberg at times both banks are completely separated from each other, (...) because at any higher water level the two ferries available are quite impractical. "

When a road bridge was finally built over the Persante about 1 kilometer upstream in 1882, the ferry service began. On the official measuring table sheet as of 1940, unlike on earlier versions of the measuring table sheet, there is of course a passenger ferry.

In 1816 8 inhabitants were counted in Fähre, 19 inhabitants in 1895 and 22 inhabitants in 1905.

Until 1945 Fähre formed a place to live in the community of Zwilipp and belonged with this to the Kolberg-Körlin district .

After 1945, the place of residence came to Poland, like all of Western Pomerania. Today the place is desolate . The desert lies in the area of the Polish Gmina Dygowo (rural municipality Degow) .
