The Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE), based in Lausanne, is the international umbrella organization for fencing recognized by the International Olympic Committee . The FIE, founded in Paris in 1913 , has 149 national associations (as of 2014).
purpose
Purpose is:
- to make fencing known in the world
- To organize international tournaments between member associations
- Establishment of the international rules for the sport of fencing
- Organize world championships in all age groups
- the fight against the use of doping substances
- Organize fencing together with the International Olympic Committee at the Olympic Games
- ensure that there is no discrimination at competition venues
