FEI Nations Cup 2015 (dressage riding)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FEI Nations Cup 2015 in dressage (2015 FEI Nations Cup ™ Dressage) was the third season of Nations Cup Dressage .

Course of the tournament series

The program of the tournament series also changed in the third season: the Norwegian stage in Norway disappeared from the program after only one year. In return, the Falsterbo Horse Show was added, which waived the Swedish Nations Cup from 2010 to 2014 in favor of the World Dressage Masters . The German dressage nation award changed its venue once in 2015 and was carried out as part of the CDIO Hagen .

The tournaments were again advertised as CDIO 3 * or CDIO 5 *. Since the third season was still a pilot season, the mode of the stages differed. At the European stations, the Grand Prix de Dressage alone or in combination with the Grand Prix Spécial and / or Grand Prix Freestyle counted as a special test . A completely different mode was used at the North American Nations Cup tournament.

The tournaments took place from March 4th to July 19th, 2015. Points were awarded on the basis of placement; more evaluation points were awarded in CDIO 5 * tournaments than in 3 * tournaments.

The exams

1st test: France

The 2015 season kicked off in Vidauban in the south of France . The French stage, a CDIO 3 *, was held at the facility of the dressage and former show jumper Bernadette Brune. The tournament took place at the same place from March 4th to 8th, again one week before the World Dressage Masters tournament.

Five teams competed in the Nations Cup, although the majority of the nations did not send their strongest riders. For the Nations Cup, adding up the results from the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial counts. The German team won, for which the landlady and her stallion Spirit of the Age OLD were also at the start.

2nd exam: United States

The second stage of the Nations Cup 2015 is the only non-European special stage of the tournament series. As in the previous year, a Wellington in Florida used a special set of rules. The riders did not only start at Grand Prix level to determine the winner of the Nations Cup. Instead, could the riders in the Grand Prix de Dressage either and in the Grand Prix Spécial or in the Prix St. Georges and the Intermediaire I go to the start. In order to take into account the difference in difficulty, the results of the Grand Prix Tour were increased by a factor of 1.5 percent per rider.

The CDIO 3 * tournament in Wellington took place from March 24th to 28th, 2015.

3rd test: Netherlands

The Dutch Nations Cup of Dressage is traditionally held at the CHIO Rotterdam . The tournament, in which the show jumpers also host their Dutch Nations Cup, took place from June 17 to 21, 2015. The dressage tests were advertised as CDIO 5 *.

A new mode for the Nations Cup was tested in Rotterdam. The first test for all participants was the Grand Prix de Dressage. The riders of the five best teams in the Grand Prix also had to compete in the Grand Prix Spécial or in the Grand Prix Freestyle, with a maximum of two riders per team being allowed to compete in each test. An average team result was then determined from the results of the ridden tests.

In the Nations Cup, the Dutch team clearly won ahead of Sweden. The German team came in fifth after the Grand Prix. Since the team only consisted of three horse-rider pairs and Bernadette Brune gave up in the Grand Prix Freestyle, the team burst. In the overall standings she is still in fifth place.

4th exam: Germany

In 2015, the German Dressage Nations Prize was not held as part of the (not held) CHIO Aachen . Instead, the CDIO Hagen was held in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest . The CDIO 5 * tournament will take place from June 8th to 12th, 2015.

The traditional mode was chosen for the Nations Cup, in which only the Grand Prix de Dressage on July 9th is included in the evaluation. The German team won by a clear margin ahead of the teams from Denmark and Spain. The Netherlands and Great Britain, which have been among the strongest nations in dressage in recent years, were at the start without their strongest pairs and came in behind.

5th test: Sweden

For the first time since 2009, as part of the Falsterbo Horse Show, the Nations Cup of Dressage was held again alongside the Show Jumping Nations. From 2010 to 2014, a CDI 5 * tournament with a World Dressage Masters rating was held here instead . The Falsterbo Horse Show in Skanör med Falsterbo took place from June 9th to 12th, 2015.

The mode of three special stages already used in Rotterdam was also used in Falsterbo: All riders had to start in the Grand Prix de Dressage and optionally in the Grand Prix Spécial or in the Grand Prix Freestyle. From the averages of Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial / Grand Prix Freestyle, the overall average was formed, which formed the team result.

Sweden, which had not sent a team to Hagen, dominated the domestic Nations Cup, the gap to the second-placed team in the Netherlands is around 16 percentage points. The Netherlands started with two strong pairs, but without a fourth pair of participants as a cancellation result. Nevertheless, they were able to position themselves in front of Germany, whose team came in third.

6. Examination: United Kingdom

Unlike in previous years, the British dressage Nations Cup tournament Dressage at Hickstead did not take place at the same time as the Royal International Horse Show (the Nations Cup tournament for show jumpers), as it will be held only 10 days before the dressage competitions at the 2015 European Championships . Instead, the CDIO 3 * tournament Dressage at Hickstead took place from July 15 to 19, 2015.

In Hickstead there were only four teams at the start. For the third time in the 2015 season, all three tests at Grand Prix level were included in the team result. All riders had to start in the Grand Prix de Dressage and optionally in the Grand Prix Spécial or in the Grand Prix Freestyle. The results of each rider were added up and the average of the team was then determined, taking into account a possible strike result.

The Danish team won, Great Britain unfortunately only came second. The victory in the individual classification of the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle of the CDIO went clearly to Carl Hester and Wanadoo , who were not part of the British team, as it was the horse's first ever Grand Prix.

Overall rating

After the Netherlands had dominated in the two previous years, the 2015 season developed into a three-way battle between three teams: Germany won with 39 points. The Netherlands and the United States both got 35 points.

As the two Nations Cups in Hagen and Falsterbo took place on the same weekend, the teams could only collect points in one of these two tournaments. As far as a nation was at the start in both stages, the better points evaluation went into the overall standings.
