Location of the municipality of Fatu Hiva within the Marquesas

Fatu Hiva is a municipality in the southern Marquesas Islands area in French Polynesia . It encompasses the 84 km² island of the same name and the tiny 22 kilometers northeast of the rocky island of Motu Nao . The highest mountain peak on the island is at 1152 m. ü. M. In 2007 there were 587 inhabitants in the various villages; the zip code is 98740. An average of seven people live in one square kilometer.
