Hiva Oa (Municipality)

Hiva Oa is a municipality in French Polynesia . It includes the islands of Hiva Oa , Mohotani , Terihi and Fatu Huku within the Marquesas - archipelago . The municipality, which covers 316 km², has around 2300 inhabitants and an average of 7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The highest point is at 1213 m. ü. M. The main town of the municipality is the village of Atuona on the island of Hiva Oa.

The municipality of Hiva Oa is divided into two communes associées :

  • Atuona (in the west, with Mohotane and Terihi)
  • Puamau (in the east, with Fatu Huku)
