Teva I Uta is a municipality in French Polynesia . It is located on the south bank of the island of Tahiti . Its sub-municipalities are Mataiea with 4446 and Papeari with 4143 inhabitants.

Mataiea is a tourist place . In 2007 a park was inaugurated here, which is part of a tourist project along the circular hiking trail around the island. The paths to the Vaipahi waterfall were also renovated.
