Felix Bastians (born May 9, 1988 in Bochum ) is a German football player .

societies

The son of the former sprinter Werner Bastians started in the youth of SG Wattenscheid 09 . He then moved to VfL Bochum . In 2002 he went to the youth department of Borussia Dortmund .

Nottingham Forest (2005-2008)

In the summer of 2004 he moved from the U-17 team of Borussia Dortmund to England to the youth academy in Nottingham Forest . The former national championship winner rose from the second division in the 2004/05 season and had to compete in the third division for the first time in 54 years . Felix Bastians made his debut on October 29, 2005 at the age of 17 in a 1-0 home win against Bradford City in the club's first team. The League One 2005/06 finished Forest in seventh and thus missed the promotion play-offs by just one place. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season Bastians was initially not considered in the squad of the first team and moved in November 2006 on loan to the lower class club Northwich Victoria , where he also scored his first goal in his first game. From March 22 to April 15, 2007 he played five third division games for Gillingham FC and was substituted on for Forest after his return from coach Colin Calderwood . With the fourth place succeeded this time the entry into the first play-off round against the fifth Yeovil Town . After a 2-0 away win in the first leg, Forest lost the second leg with 2: 5 after extra time at the City Ground and again missed promotion. In the first half of the 2007/08 season, on October 1, 2007, another change on loan to fourth division club Chesterfield followed . By December 30, Bastians played twelve league games and scored one goal. After a month at Forests city rivals Notts County followed from February 14 to March 14, 2008, his sixth and last change on loan to the Milton Keynes Dons trained by Paul Ince . After a trial session at FC Schalke 04 , he rose with Forest in the second-rate Football League Championship , but did not sign a new contract in Nottingham and was released from the club.

Young Boys Bern (2008-2009)

After several offers, he finally decided in July 2008 for the BSC Young Boys as the new club. He scored his first goal for the club on August 10, 2008 against Neuchâtel Xamax . Bastians reached the final of the Swiss Cup 2008/09 with the Young Boys Bern . He came on as a substitute for Felix Bastians in the 60th minute when the score was 2: 2 for Mario Raimondi and lost the game 2: 3. In the Swiss Football Championship 2008/09 , Bern won the runner-up behind FC Zurich . Internationally, the team around Seydou Doumbia , Gilles Yapi Yapo and Felix Bastians were less successful and failed in the first round of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup with 2-2 and 0-2 at Club Bruges .

SC Freiburg (2009–2012)

On June 7, 2009, Felix Bastians (34 league games / 1 goal) moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga SC Freiburg for a transfer fee of around 250,000 euros and managed to stay in the Bundesliga in 2009/10 as 14th . The club played the 2010/11 season even more successfully and ended the season in ninth place in the table. Bastians played twenty-nine league games this time and remained without a goal. In the 2011/12 season, the SCF was in great danger of relegation; the first half of the season was finished bottom of the table. For this reason, SC Freiburg announced on December 23, 2011 that Bastians had been advised to change clubs. Bastians was released from training and then kept fit at his home club VfL Bochum . From January 16, he trained with the second team.

Hertha BSC (2012-2013)

After Bastians had already agreed on a change for summer 2012 with Hertha BSC at the beginning of January 2012 , on January 26, 2012 Freiburg and Hertha agreed on an immediate change of the left-back. Bastians signed a contract until June 30, 2016. It was agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. With Hertha he was relegated to the 2nd league at the end of the 2011/12 season , but managed to get promoted again in the following season.

VfL Bochum (2013-2018)

For the 2013/14 season , Bastians switched to his "home club" VfL Bochum on loan for a year . He made his starting eleven debut on November 22, 2013 in a game against Arminia Bielefeld (0-2). Bastians returned to Berlin for the 2014/15 season, but was not in the first team's squad. On October 9, 2014, the club and Bastians dissolved the contract. On November 17, 2014, he signed a contract with VfL Bochum that was valid from January 1 to June 30, 2017. On September 11, 2015, he scored his first Bundesliga goal for VfL Bochum with a penalty in the away game against SV Sandhausen . On October 9, 2017, Bastians was released from the club for two weeks. His contract with VfL ran until 2020.

Tianjin Teda (since 2018)

On January 26, 2018, Bastians joined the Chinese first division club Tianjin Teda .

National team

In August 2009, Bastians was appointed to the DFB squad for the first time by U-21 national coach Rainer Adrion . On August 11, 2009, he made his debut in a game against Turkey's U-21 team. His ninth and last international match was on March 2, 2010 in a 2-2 draw against Iceland.
