Ferdinand Ludwig Heinrich von Münchow (born September 11, 1790 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † July 13, 1876 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Ferdinand was a son of the Prussian captain Friedrich Alexander von Münchow (1753-1802) and his wife Karoline, born von Weyenmeyer († 1827).

Military career

Münchow visited the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . At the beginning of the Fourth Coalition War , he was employed on October 19, 1806 as a Junker in the 5th West Prussian Reserve Battalion of the Prussian Army . With the Peace of Tilsit he came to the newly established Leib-Infanterie-Regiment as portepeef ensign and rose to secondary lieutenant until mid-July 1810 . Münchow took part in 1812 on the side of France during the campaign against Russia in the battles at Eckau , Mesothen , Wollgund and Ruhenthal .

During the Wars of Liberation he fought against France in the battles near Bautzen , Katzbach , Leipzig , Laon and Ligny . He took part in the battles at Königswartha , Siegersdorf, Bunzlau, Freyburg , Chalons, Mery, Chateau-Thierry , Trilport, Versailles and Chatillon. For Wartenburg he received a commendation, for Paris the Iron Cross 2nd class and for Wavre the Cross 1st class.

In mid-April 1815, Münchow was promoted to prime lieutenant and on July 26, 1815, he became adjutant of the 12th Landwehr Brigade. In this capacity at the end of March 1817 promoted to captain, he was on March 30, 1821 adjutant of the 12th Division . From April 4, 1829, he was employed as adjutant of the 5th Division and on March 30, 1830, he was promoted to major . Münchow was aggregated to the 20th Infantry Regiment at the end of March 1832 and transferred to the 24th Infantry Regiment as battalion commander on March 30, 1833 . There Münchow was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 10, 1840 , was entrusted with the command of the 27th Infantry Regiment on April 7, 1842 , and was finally appointed regimental commander on January 10, 1843. In March 1843 he was promoted to colonel . On April 13, 1848, Münchow was transferred to Magdeburg as commander of the 7th Infantry Brigade and at the end of the month was aggregated to the 27th Infantry Regiment. After his promotion to major general, Münchow received the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves and on September 15, 1849 became the commander of the 7th Landwehr Brigade, which he continued to command after the reorganization of the 14th Infantry Brigade . Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Münchow participated in the July 8, 1854 his farewell to board and was on 22 October 1856 Pension zur Disposition asked. He died in Potsdam on July 13, 1876.

family

Münchow married on July 6, 1817 in Brieg Polyxena (Xeny) Charlotte Rosalie von Sydow (1800-1828). After her untimely death, he married Josephine Dietrich (1802–1849) in Breslau on July 15, 1829 , widowed wool and daughter of Neisse's office inspector Johann Dietrich. Several children resulted from the marriages:
