International artist symposium stone carving Kaisersteinbruch 1990

As part of the 400th anniversary of Kaisersteinbruch, the internationally active Austrian sculptor Christoph E. Exler founded an artist symposium for stone carving in Kaisersteinbruch, Burgenland , until 1921 the Császárkőbánya was in western Hungary .

He succeeded in calling Ferenc Gyurcsek from Hungary and Alexandru Ciutureanu from Romania to work in the once flourishing stonemason village on the Leithagebirge . In a six-week activity, works of contemporary art were to be created from the white, very hard and dense Leitha limestone, the Kaiserstein .

Ferenc Gyurcsek was sent to Austria by the artists' association and ministry of his home country and created a landmark symbol of cultures that meet, similar to the Hubertus deer , a Hungarian symbol of happiness . He brought Hungary from the Asian to the European cultural area . The animal is about to jump, followed by a hawk . The stone is narrow and actually carries two animals in relief, one in the morning light, the other stronger in the evening sun, like mother and daughter.

Ferenc Gyurcsek initially had a simple room in the inn, after which the Alfred and Hilda Burits family took him into their house.

Restorer in Kaisersteinbruch

In May 1991 the renovation of the Kaisersteinbruch church began , especially the tower facade. Two baroque architectural vases - like so many other things - were destroyed by the war . Gyurcsek designed the two new vases from cast stone using old photographs . The restoration of the badly damaged " Kuruzzenkreuz ", actually a plague cross from 1646, was the topic for the restorer Ferenc Gyurcsek in 1993. The transport from the Blauer Bruch to the Bruckneudorf- Kaisersteinbruch military training area to Waldgasse in Kaisersteinbruch was organized by master stonemason Friedrich Opferkuh until his last days. The state curator of Burgenland, Franz Bunzl, praised the exemplary restoration.

The Bundesdenkmalamt Burgenland, the cultural department of the Burgenland state government , the large municipality of Bruckneudorf-Kaisersteinbruch, the governor Karl Stix and the museum association as organizer financed the major project: the repair of the baroque cemetery portal, which is the responsibility of the municipality. Two side statues made of soft sandstone threatened to crumble, a very old statue of the Virgin Mary from Kaiserstein, from the early days of the Kaisersteinbruch craft, was still well preserved. Ferenc Gyurcsek carried out all work (1994/1995) to full satisfaction.

European Symposium Kaisersteinbruch

The Museum and Culture Association commissioned Gyurcsek to work on the European Fountain. He should design the fountain figure on the theme: "Zeus abducts Europe". In July 1998 he submitted 5 drafts, the decision was unanimous. In just one month, the artist had completed and delivered the work from delicately veined Greek marble and earned unanimous enthusiasm!

Column of honor for Elias Huegel in his hometown Gemünden am Main

An honorary column by court stonemason Elias Hügel with a height of 4.5 m was carved for Gemünden am Main - according to an existing drawing - in the stonemasonry of master Sandor Antal in Budapest from a single block of Sóskúter stone (a much-used Hungarian white-yellow sandstone ). The sculpting work was done by Ferenc Gyurcsek.

The Main-Post wrote on May 20, 1996: “Column symbolizes community, reception for Kaisersteinbrucher delegation .. a ten-member delegation from the Austrian Burgenland had come especially to witness the unveiling of the Elias Hügel column, Mayor Franz Schmitzhofer, the artist Ferenc Gyurcsek. "

Martfű

From 1998 Ferenc Gyurcsek found another artistic home in Martfű . Here he created important, monumental works of art over the years , a small selection is presented here:

Quote Ferenc Gyurcsek: .. I prefer to work with marble, but if the subject requires it, I also like to use bronze or concrete. My graphic work is inextricably linked with my work as a sculptor ... Outside of Hungary, my statues and sculptures are in Berlin , Moscow , Paris , Stockholm , Prague , Sofia , Ravenna , Recklinghausen , Gabrovo and Yerevan .

He is married to Kinga Peres, their daughter Flora.
