FH Hafnarfjörður ( Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar ) is an Icelandic sports club from Hafnarfjörður .
History and structure
The club was founded on October 14, 1929. In 1935 the association merged with Haukar Hafnarfjörður to form ÍBH Hafnarfjörður . However, this merger was resolved 26 years later and the old name FH was adopted. The club colors are black and white. FH Hafnarfjörður has four departments: football , handball , athletics and fencing . The home stadium is called Kaplakriki and holds around 5,000 spectators. Next door is the handball hall.
Soccer
The club's football department became better known in Germany after it was eliminated in the 2004/05 season against second division Alemannia Aachen with 1: 5 and 0: 0 in the UEFA Cup . In 2006 FH Hafnarfjörður won the Icelandic championship with 36 out of 54 possible points for the third year in a row. In the second qualifying round for the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League , the club were eliminated after two defeats 4-0 and 2-0 against Kazakh champions FK Aqtöbe .
The following season the club played in the second qualifying round against BATE Baryssau from Belarus. Against this club they lost twice (1: 5 and 0: 1). In the 2011/12 season, the Icelanders only played in qualifying for the Europa League . In the second qualifying round Hafnarfjördur met Portuguese club Nacional Funchal and retired after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and a 1-3 defeat in the second leg.
In the following season, the team played in the first qualifying round against Liechtenstein cup winner USV Eschen-Mauren . After a 2-1 win in front of their own audience, a 1-0 second leg win in Liechtenstein's Eschen followed . In the second qualifying round, the team met AIK Solna . Against the Swedish club a 1-1 draw was won in the first leg, but Hafnarfjörður was eliminated after a 0-1 in the second leg.

Handball
The handball department has won the Icelandic championship more than any other club. In 1992 all three national competitions could be won for the first time.
