Forum for technical language research
The Forum for Technical Language Research , or FFF for short, is an established academic series of publications for technical language and technical communication research.
Emergence
The forum for technical language research was founded in 1985 by Hartwig Kalverkämper . The series has been published by the Berlin publisher Frank & Timme since 2008 and continues to be edited by Hartwig Kalverkämper, since 2015 in collaboration with Klaus-Dieter Baumann .
The aim of the series of publications is to contribute to the establishment of identity and profiling of specialist language and specialist communication research within linguistics and the related disciplines that deal with languages , communication , action , society and culture .
The first volume to appear was Lothar Hoffmann's Kommunikationmittel Fachsprache. An introduction that was first published in 1976 in the GDR by the Akademie-Verlag , now in the 2nd completely revised edition from 1984 (in FFF 1985). About 160 monographs , topic-specific anthologies and commemorative publications followed .
subjects
The series is committed to an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses the humanities , cultural and social sciences as well as natural and technical sciences . Subjects covered include medicine , law , economics and corporate communications, as well as the humanities. The central point is the connection between theory formation and application (practical relevance). This shows u. a. close to translation studies (specialist translation).
The languages of publication and research areas are German, English, French, Italian and Spanish as well as other languages (such as Russian, Polish, Czech, Norwegian, Chinese) as the subject of research.
