Frank Fiedler (born November 29, 1930 in Dresden ; † July 3, 2018 in Bischofswerda ) was a German teacher and local history researcher in Bischofswerda.

Live and act

Frank Fiedler was born in 1930 in the Gruna district of Dresden . His father was the graphic artist Friedrich Kurt Fiedler , the architect Edmund Schuchardt was an uncle. The family later lived in the Dürerbundhaus in Blasewitz until the house was destroyed in 1945 by the air raids on Dresden . Then the family found acceptance in Eichbusch . Because of the early death of his parents, Fiedler left grammar school before graduating from high school and trained as a new teacher. As part of his thesis in 1957, a collection of seeds from tertiary deciduous trees was created. Fiedler taught biology and sport in Steinigtwolmsdorf , Großdrebnitz , Burkau and Bischofswerda until 1991 .

Since the 1980s, Fiedler has published regularly in renowned natural history and local history magazines such as Der Falke , Aquarien Terrariums and Sächsische Heimatblätter as well as in series of publications by Saxon museums and nature societies. The focus was on publications on the subjects of otters and ichthyology . Fiedler was the author of articles for the Saxon biography and the Biographical Lexicon of Upper Lusatia. This work formed the basis for the main work by Frank Fiedler, which he wrote together with his son Uwe Fiedler . In the compilation "Lebensbilder aus der Oberlausitz", which has appeared in seven editions since 2011, initially 34 and after several revisions and extensions 60 CVs were described. A large proportion of the work on the Stöckhardt family of scholars and the Pommritz agricultural experimental station take up a large part . Also included are biographies on Bruno Steglich and Gottfried Unterdörfer , on which Frank Fiedler has already published several works. The most recent natural history work concerned experiences with the forest lizard , for which Fiedler had created a habitat in his garden because of hunger , in which he systematically observed the animals.
