Friedrich Heinrich Wilhelm von Zollikofer (born February 12, 1737 in Lausigk , † November 18, 1798 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from the Saxon branch of the Swiss family Zollikofer von Altenklingen . His father was the royal Polish and Electoral Saxon captain of the Guard on Foot Friedrich Wilhelm von Zollikofer (* May 17, 1699 - June 4, 1745, died near Hohenfriedberg ) and his wife Charlotte Henriette, née von Netz (* August 18, 1704 ; † May 3, 1767) from the Weigelsdorf house. His brother Christian Wilhelm had died on June 18, 1757 as a junker of the infantry regiment "von Wied" near Kolin .

Military career

Zollikofer joined the Electoral Saxon Cadet Corps in Dresden in 1752 . On February 22, 1754 he was transferred to the body cuirassier regiment of the Saxon army as a cornet . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the siege of Pirna . After the surrender of the Saxon army, he took his leave on October 23, 1756, went into Prussian service on November 6, 1756 and joined the Gardes du Corps regiment with a patent from November 3, 1756 as a cornet. Zollikofer fought in the battles Prague , Roßbach , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Liegnitz , Torgau , Burkersdorf and Hochkirch . On May 26, 1762 he was promoted to lieutenant.

After the war, on September 7, 1776, he became staff captain. On October 23, 1778 he became a captain and company commander, and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/1779 . On September 27, 1785 he became major with a patent dated September 28, 1785, on May 20, 1792 lieutenant colonel with a patent dated June 15, 1792. On January 1, 1794 colonel with a patent dated January 29, 1794 and on January 7, 1795 regimental commander . On October 1, 1798, due to serious illness, he received his resignation and a pension of 1200 thalers, the character of major general and permission to continue to wear the regiment's uniform. He died on November 18, 1798 in Potsdam and was buried on November 21, 1798.

Zollikofer married Anna Luise Habeck on August 31, 1796 in Potsdam (born September 19, 1765 - † April 29, 1819). The couple had several children:
