Life

Friedrich was the son of Ignaz von Landsberg-Velen and Gemen (1788–1863), a member of the United State Parliament , a royal Prussian privy councilor and hereditary member of the Prussian mansion since 1854 , and Countess Ludowica von Westerholt and Gysenberg . The father Ignaz was raised with his family on October 15, 1840 in Berlin with a diploma from June 1, 1860 (!) To the Prussian count , primogenitur from a noble marriage and linked to the possession of the class rule Gemen with the rule Velen and Raesfeld , Borken district (Münsterland). The father never took his seat in the Prussian manor house.

After the death of his father (1863), Landsberg-Velen inherited the rule of Castle Gemen and, among other things, Castle Dankern near Haren (Ems) , which he gave its present appearance in the years 1890 to 1894 through considerable extensions. He also owned the Wocklum Castle near Balve and the nearby Wocklum chemical factory and the Luisenhütte . He also held the majority of the Kuxe at the Sicilia trade union in Meggen .

He only represented the constituency for one legislative period until 1874, and his son was his successor as a member of parliament.

He expanded the holdings of his family library by purchasing entire libraries and bequests.

In 1889, he was from the town of Bad Kissingen , the honorary citizenship granted, which is probably how much handled in those days, justified in many visits the renowned spa town. In 1898 he was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia .
