Friedrich Julius Joseph von der Wense (born February 8, 1812 in Kostenthal , † April 22, 1880 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Friedrich came from the Lower Saxon noble family Wense . He was a son of the Prussian captain of the same name . D. and tax payer Friedrich von der Wense (1779–1861) and his wife Karoline, née Hampel. His brother Otto (1832–1909) also became a Prussian major general.

Military career

Wense visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . Subsequently, on July 28, 1829, he was transferred to the 40th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army in Mainz as Portepeefähnrich. In mid-February 1831 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and from 1837 was initially a battalion adjutant and from 1838 regimental adjutant. Promoted to prime lieutenant on July 29, 1847 , he was commanded to Cologne on January 16, 1849 as adjutant of the 15th Infantry Brigade . In 1849 Wense took part in the suppression of the Palatinate uprising and the Baden Revolution in the battles at Rinnthal , Kuppenheim and Iffezheim . This was followed by commandments as adjutant of the 1st Division in Baden and the 16th Infantry Brigade. Left in this position, he was placed in mid-October 1851 as captain à la suite of the 28th Infantry Regiment and on May 4, 1852, he was commanded as an adjutant of the 31st Infantry Brigade. Temporarily left in this command, he was transferred to the 30th Infantry Regiment on April 3, 1855, and from January 27, 1856, Wense served as company commander . With the promotion to major he was on February 3, 1859 as commander of the III. Battalion in the 29th Landwehr Regiment transferred to Simmern / Hunsrück . On May 8, 1860, he was commanded as a battalion leader for the 29th Combined Infantry Regiment from which the 7th Rhenish Infantry Regiment 69 emerged in early July 1860 . Wense became the commander of the fusilier battalion and rose to lieutenant colonel in mid-May 1863 .

On April 3, 1866, he was transferred as commander of the 3rd Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 20 to Küstrin and at the beginning of June 1866 he was promoted to colonel . In the war that followed , Wense led his regiment in the Main Army in the battles near Hünfeld , Hammelburg , Werbach , Helmstadt and Roßbrunn . For this he was awarded the Crown Order III on September 20, 1866 . Excellent with swords. In approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposition on July 7, 1868 with a pension and the right to wear the regimental uniform.

During the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , he was reused on July 18, 1870 as commander of the deputy 42nd Infantry Brigade in Frankfurt am Main . He received the character of major general on February 28, 1871 and returned to the inactive relationship on July 11, 1871.

He died on April 22, 1880 in Wiesbaden.

Wense married Mathilde Haacke (1820–1865) on January 3, 1846 in Mainz. The couple had twins:

  • Friedrich (1847–1870), Prussian second lieutenant, died in Bazoche of his wound near Loigny
  • Adolf (1847–1895), Prussian major a. D. ⚭ 1890 Paula König (* 1866)

After the death of his first wife, he married Anna Großmann (1822–1900) on January 19, 1867 in Frankfurt am Main.
