Max Fritz Pappritz , von Pappritz since 1880 , (born December 22, 1832 in Radach ; † May 26, 1924 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian Premier Lieutenant a. D. and Knighthood Councilor Friedrich Pappritz (1787–1874) and his wife Emilie, née Alsleben (1787–1885).

Military career

After attending grammar school , Pappritz joined the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army as an avantageur on January 5, 1850 . At the same time he was promoted to secondary lieutenant on March 11, 1852, he was transferred to the 29th Infantry Regiment . For four years, from December 1, 1854, Pappritz was in command as adjutant of the 2nd Battalion in the 29th Landwehr Regiment in Andernach . He then joined the 12th Infantry Regiment on January 20, 1859 , where he became Premier Lieutenant at the end of May 1859. As such, on July 1, 1860, Pappritz was transferred to the 12th Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 6th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment (No. 52) emerged shortly afterwards . He was promoted to captain and company commander here in May 1865 . During the war against Denmark in 1864, Pappritz remained as a company commander in the replacement battalion at home. In 1866 he took an active part in the war against Austria . Pappritz fought with his 8th company at Nachod , Skalitz , Schweinschädel and at Königgrätz . His achievements were recognized by the award of the Red Eagle Order, IV class with swords.

In 1870/71, during the war against France , Pappritz commanded the 4th company of the regiment, initially at Spichern . In the battle of Mars-la-Tour he suffered several wounds and had to give up his command. After its restoration, Pappritz took part in the battles at Beaune-la-Rolande , Orléans and Le Mans and was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross .

After the war, Pappritz advanced to major in mid-October 1871 , became commander of the fusilier battalion on November 5, 1874 and, in this capacity, a lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1877 . Due to his good service in war and peace, Pappritz was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on September 18, 1880 . With the establishment of the Infantry Regiment No. 98 he was commissioned on March 22nd, 1881 under position à la suite with the leadership of the unit in Brandenburg an der Havel . On June 11, 1882 he was appointed regimental commander and on September 13, 1882 he was promoted to colonel . On April 1, 1884, the regiment moved into Metz as a new garrison. From there, Pappritz was sent to Rendsburg on June 23, 1887 to represent the commander of the 36th Infantry Brigade on leave . Shortly thereafter, on July 16, 1887, he was commissioned to lead the brigade and on September 17, 1887, promoted to major general, commander of the large unit . This was followed from March 22, 1889 as an inspector of the 3rd Landwehr inspection in the area of ​​the III. Army Corps . He was promoted to lieutenant general on March 24, 1890, and was transferred to the army officers on March 24, 1890, and shortly thereafter, on April 17, 1890, in approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposition with the statutory pension . After his departure, Pappritz received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves and swords on the ring.

He is buried in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
