His father and grandfather were both musicians and had a great influence on the young music-loving Frank Iero. The father urged his son to become a drummer like himself , but Frank Iero preferred to play the guitar . That's why he soon took guitar lessons.

Music career

Frank Iero played in local bands in New Jersey 's punk scene at the age of eleven . Prior to joining My Chemical Romance, he was lead singer of the punk band Pencey Prep , the album - Heartbreak in stereo under the founded by Alex Saavedra Label - Eyeball Records published before they broke up. While out with Pencey Prep, he made friends with Gerard Way and the other My Chemical Romance members, became a fan of their music (their first demo) and helped them get to the first concerts. After his band Pencey Prep split up, he began to play in various bands such as I Am A Graveyard, Hybrid, Sector 12 and American Nightmare , until he was offered to become the rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance.

Years later, Frank Iero was also the front man of the self-founded hardcore punk band Leathermouth , which released their debut album XO in January 2009 on Epitaph Records . On December 7th, 2010 he separated from the label Skeleton Crew , which he and his wife had co-founded years earlier, in order to be able to concentrate fully on his family and the music with My Chemical Romance. Frank Iero explained that he would have loved to continue with the label, but that it was not possible for him to manage his band career, the newly enlarged family (two newborn daughters) and running a company at the same time.
