European Football Championship 1988 / Denmark

This article deals with the Danish national football team during the 1988 European Football Championship

European Championship qualification

Denmark trembled at the European Championship finals, because with only four goals scored, there were three wins and two draws. This was enough to win the group in front of the disappointed teams from the ČSSR and Wales as well as the severed Finns. Wales could have ousted Denmark from first place if they had won their last group game against the ČSSR, but they lost this game 2-0 in Prague .

Preliminary round ( group 1 )

For Denmark, the tournament was over after the preliminary round. After a narrow defeat in the first game against feared opponents Spain ( European Championship '84 , World Cup '86 ), they then clearly lost 2-0 to hosts Germany and Italy.
