Georg Lerch

Georg August Lerch (born August 11, 1792 in Darmstadt ; † March 20, 1857 ibid) was a Hessian architect and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Georg Lerch was the son of master bricklayer Johann Philipp Lerch (1762–1800) and his wife Maria Magdalena, née Schneider († 1849). Lerch, who was a Protestant, married Anna Elisabeth, born Fersenfeld (1792–1847) in Hamburg on March 21, 1820.

Lersch attended the Darmstadt grammar school from 1801 to 1806. In 1812 he became a building manager and mathematics teacher at the Darmstadt School of Architecture. In 1815 he joined the architectural institute of the senior building director Weinbrenner in Karlsruhe. After a trip to Italy from 1815 to 1818, he became a real master builder in Darmstadt in 1818, and in 1821 a teacher of mathematics and architecture at the newly founded secondary school in Darmstadt. In 1822 he was appointed state master builder, in 1832 he became district master builder for the Starkenburg province . Since 1836 he was court and military architect and since 1837 senior building officer of the senior building management. In 1854 he was given the character of a secret building councilor and retired in 1856.

From 1841 to 1849 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Darmstadt . In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament .
