Gerard Batliner

Gerard Batliner (born December 9, 1928 in Eschen (Liechtenstein) ; † June 25, 2008 ibid) was a Liechtenstein politician ( FBP ), lawyer and publicist.

biography

Gerard Batliner studied law and philosophy at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) ; In 1957 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. Since 1956, in addition to his political activities, he worked as an independent lawyer and publicist in Liechtenstein.

From July 16, 1962 to March 18, 1970 he was the head of government of the Principality of Liechtenstein . From 1974 to 1982 Batliner was a member of the Liechtenstein Landtag for the Progressive Citizens' Party and during this time he held the office of Landtag President from 1974 to 1978 and Vice President of the Landtag from 1978 to 1982. Batliner was then a member of the European Commission for Human Rights from 1983 to 1990 .

He is the author of numerous books on the Liechtenstein legal system. In 1951 Batliner was one of the founding members of the Liechtenstein Academic Society and subsequently became involved in the Liechtenstein Institute .
