Gerd E. Schäfer
Gerhard Kurt Egilhard Schäfer (born July 14, 1923 in Berlin-Neukölln ; † September 20, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German actor .
Life
Gerd E. Schäfer, a school friend of Günter Pfitzmann's , studied theater and music in Berlin in the 1940s . After the war he began to play in Bautzen , Berlin, Potsdam and Rostock theaters. At the Stadttheater Bautzen , he staged the German premiere of the Soviet time piece The Great Power by Boris Sergejvic Romaschow (premiere on August 24, 1948). From 1956 to 1968 he was a member of the Distel cabaret ensemble .
From 1955 Schäfer played smaller roles in various DEFA and television productions. He took on his first major film role in the feature film New Year's Punch , which was released in GDR cinemas in 1960 . This was followed by supporting roles in DEFA feature films such as On the Sunny Side (1962), The Bewitched Fisherman Village (1962), The Golden Goose (1964), King Drosselbart (1965) and Without Passport in Strangers' Beds (1965).
From 1968 Gerd E. Schäfer belonged to the permanent ensemble of GDR television . From 1976 onwards, Schäfer became known and popular with the public in the role of Maxe Baumann in the boulevard theater pieces Holidays without End , No Holidays for Max , Max on Travel , Surprise for Max , Max in Moritzhagen , Maxe in Blau and Max stays on the ball . In addition, Schäfer and the actress Uta Schorn hosted the popular TV program Der Wunschbriefkasten for many years .
Even before the political change in the GDR , Schäfer worked in West Berlin and toured the theater with Manfred Krug, among others . Until shortly before his death, he worked in various television crime series.
Schäfer was married three times. The actor Alexander G. Schäfer and the cult hairdresser Frank Schäfer are his sons. Gerd E. Schaefer died of on 20 September 2001 at the age of 78 years suffering from cancer .
