Get Your Wings is the second studio album by the American hard rock band Aerosmith . It was released on Columbia Records in March 1974 .

Emergence

Aerosmith recorded Get Your Wings from December 1973 to January 1974 with producer Jack Douglas in New York City. This marked the beginning of the long-standing and style-defining collaboration between the band and Douglas, who was ultimately responsible as producer for a total of seven Aerosmith albums. Ray Colcord also worked on the production of Get Your Wings .

With Same Old Song and Dance , Train Kept A Rollin ' and SOS (Too Bad) three songs from the album were released as singles. The first two titles mentioned are among the most played at the band's concerts.

Reception and style

Get Your Wings was initially only moderately successful and only reached number 74 on the Billboard 200 charts in the USA . As a long seller , the album achieved triple platinum status in 2001 . Get Your Wings received mostly positive reviews and was seen, especially in retrospect, as a clear development step from the rather unpolished style of their debut album to the sound of the following albums, characterized by a mixture of rhythm and blues and hard rock.
