Gilbert scheme
The Gilbert Scheme is a table written by James Joyce in 1921 to make it easier for his friend Stuart Gilbert to read Ulysses . In this way it was possible to grasp the symbol and motif structures of the individual chapters of the book. Each chapter is assigned a setting, an organ, a symbol (or a symbolic figure) and a certain narrative or language technique, but this does not mean that the Ulysses is organized according to a dry construction principle.
