Glaswein in the western Weinviertel in Lower Austria is a village and, as Glasweiner Wald, cadastral municipality of the municipality of Großmugl in the Korneuburg district .
geography
Glaswein is located about 35 kilometers northwest of the city center of Vienna and 13 km east of Hollabrunn in the western Leiser mountains .
The village is about 7 km north of Großmugl, on the L 1076 state road from Herzogbirbaum to Enzersdorf im Thale . It only includes the 3 buildings of Schloss Glaswein . The total area of the associated cadastral community Glasweiner Wald is 10.4 km²

History and culture
The cadastral community represents the latifundia of Schloss Glaswein as a tax community. With the abolition of the manors and the creation of local communities in 1848/49 , it was retained as a cadastral community.
The hunting lodge is now a listed building .
In 2009, Großmugl declared itself a starlight oasis in the sense of the UNESCO Convention as the “ right to starlight ”. The entire municipality operates active protection against light pollution .
