Ottendorf is a village in the western Weinviertel in Lower Austria as well as a locality and cadastral community of the municipality of Großmugl in the Korneuburg district .

geography

The place is located about 33 kilometers northwest of the city center of Vienna and 15 km southeast of Hollabrunn . It is located about 2 km east of Großmugl at about 220  m above sea level. A. Height in the southern foothills of the Leiser Berge on the Mühlberg  ( 271  m above sea level ). Here the Mühlbach von Herzogbirbaum flows into the Ottendorfer Bach , which then flows into the Mugler Bach .

The village has around 50 buildings with around 90 inhabitants. This also includes the Mauknermühle south of the village. The total area of ​​the cadastral community is 352  hectares .

The place extends below today's state road L 27 (section L 25 in Großmugl via Herzogbirbaum - Nursch - Merkersdorf to Mistelbacher Straße B 40 next Ernstbrunn).

history

Ottendorf is mentioned for the first time as early as 1294 on the occasion of the parish elevation of Herzogbirbaum. The place Blindendorf also belonged to Ottendorf . This was completely dilapidated in the late 19th century.

In 2009, Großmugl declared itself a starlight oasis in the sense of the UNESCO Convention as the “ right to starlight ”. The entire municipality operates active protection against light pollution .
